Wisconsin LGBT Chamber Announces Hire of New Supplier Diversity Program Manager

The Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the appointment of Areli Herrera as the new Supplier Diversity Program Manager. In this role, Herrera will spearhead the development and implementation of the Chamber’s programs aimed at supporting and expanding the number of LGBT Business Enterprises (LGBTBE) across Wisconsin.

“We are thrilled to welcome Areli to the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce team,” said Jason Rae, President, and CEO of the Chamber. “Her experience, passion, and dedication to diversity and inclusion make them an excellent fit for leading our Supplier Diversity Program. We are confident that Areli will play a key role in advancing our mission and supporting the growth of LGBTBEs in Wisconsin.”

Herrera brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to community empowerment to her new position. A graduate of Marquette University with degrees in English and Secondary Education, she has held various roles in nonprofit organizations and community organizing. Her dedication to fostering inclusive spaces and resources was solidified during their time as a program assistant for Marquette’s LGBTQ+ Resource Center.

After several years as a classroom teacher following graduation, Herrera returns to the nonprofit sector with a passion for community organizing and empowerment. They are deeply committed to social advocacy for marginalized groups and believe that community outreach and accessible education are essential for building a brighter future for all.

In their new role, Herrera will work closely with Chamber members, certified LGBT Business Enterprises, corporate partners, and other stakeholders to drive the Chamber’s supplier diversity initiatives forward. They will focus on creating opportunities for LGBTBEs, fostering partnerships, and providing resources to support their success, including ensuring success of programs like the LGBTQ+ Entrepreneur Bootcamp.

“I am beyond excited to work toward crafting community for our LGBT Business Enterprises, and hope to provide them with the resources they need to thrive. My goal is to help empower and connect our smaller businesses, while simultaneously demonstrating a dedication to supplier diversity for our larger partners," said Areli Herrera, new Suppler Diversity Program Manager.

This position is funded through the Diverse Business Assistance Grant Program awarded by Governor Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Administration.
