For more than 30 years, Jeff and Jeri Taylor have been proud to call Fish Creek, Door County home to their jewelry and fine art gallery. They personally select each item for the gallery with emphasis on color, composition and creativity, understanding art is a form of personal expression. The gallery has become a destination for visitors to this popular tourist area, having maintained a reputation for quality art work and excellent, friendly service. Located in the heart of Fish Creek, the gallery proudly displays the work of many nationally renowned artists focusing on hand crafted jewelry, glass, photography and mixed media art.
What do you enjoy most about what you do?
We love making people smile! Art and jewelry should make you feel good and we want you to take home a memory from your visit to the place we've called home for the past few decades. Door County is a beautiful area with a robust retail, recreation and restaurant community. We hear from our customers just how much they love the things our peninsula has to offer and that's what we love to hear as it makes for repeat visitors.
What's the best piece of business advice you've ever been given?
Don't give people a discount until they become loyal customers because then they will expect it all the time.
What do you know today that you wish you would have known when you first got started as an entrepreneur?
While your expertise and experience in your field increases, the workload does not decrease!
If you had to choose another career today, what would it be and why?
Jeri, the business side of J Jeffrey Taylor, says she would choose to be a vet tech for large animals (horses in particular).
Jeff, the jeweler, would be a glass blower. He said, "A lot of jewelers I know are closet glass blowers. We are fascinated by the process and the way you can manipulate liquid glass. I've taken several glass blowing classes over the years though my pieces are a bit more crude than what you find in our gallery."
Why did you decide to join the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber?
Membership in the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce helps us reach a broader base of customers, those who are as committed as we are to creating a welcoming and inclusive retail business climate across our tourist region and state. Appreciation and love for art knows no gender or preference, and we hope we have provided an environment in which our customers know we feel the same.
